The wacky hoaxes which have left the world scratching their headsCrop circles, balloon boy, drop bears, loch ness monster, elusive black cats, yowies, fake celebrity deaths and monoliths.YowiesIn 2019, a 53-year-old Queensland delivery driver claimed he not only saw a terrifying yowie on the Gold Coast Hinterland but that it also forced him to slam on his brakes in broad daylight. The man, identified only as Gary, claimed the three-metre-tall yowie slammed its hands down on his bonnet after he locked eyes with the creature. However, there is no evidence to prove the yowie exists as the man's dashcam was apparently being serviced that day. This was yet another sighting that was reported to Australia's Yowie hunter, Dean Harrison, along with a sketch from the witness. Mr Harrison said he believes these creatures do exist and claims he's been told about sightings around the country for the past 20 years. But with the lack of footage, the jury is still out on whether the sighting of the mythological creature was real or whether it was indeed a hoax.
