What’s driving the rise in atheism? Many people yearn to feel connected to something larger than life. For some that’s a belief in God and religion, but that number is starting to dramatically decline. According to a 2019 Pew Research survey, a quarter of the US population today say they have no religious affiliation. Secularism has skyrocketed over the last three decades in America and added to that equation, there’s also an increase in self-described atheists, those who completely reject any form of supernatural deity. So why are Americans turning away from God and what does it mean to be an atheist in today’s America? For some, it is part of the human condition to believe in something other than ourselves — something larger than life and larger than ourselves. But does that need to be supernatural or religious? Does the meaningfulness in our lives depend on accepting the existence of God? KCRW’s Jonathan Bastian talks to Todd May, professor of ethics and philosophy at Clemson University about what it means to believe that there is no God.

Every knee shall bow, and every tong shall confess that Jesus is Lord. One day my friend your knee will bow to the very God that you claim that does not exist, the reality it will be too late - your eternity will be, what you chose it to be.

Can you even name the authors of that awful drivel the bible? No you can't because nobody knows. Could have been a delirious goat herder dying from syphilis or a camel salesman high on mushrooms. You believe all that ridiculous twaddle they wrote because somebody told you it was true and you were simply too lazy to research the matter. Mummy and Daddy I'm guessing. Maybe the local preacher with his mesmerizing combination of flowing robes and scented candles. There is no evidence for your magical skylord. You have been duped sucker.
